Yahoo News Netflix announces Orange Is the New Black to end after season seven in 2019
Orange Is the New Black will come to an end after season seven next year, Netflix has revealed.
The original drama, based on memoirs of Piper Kerman, has been a huge hit with viewers since its debut on the platform in 2013.
Having returned for a sixth run of episodes earlier this year, the official account for the women’s prison drama has announced that the show will finish after a seventh season in 2019.
Revealing the news in a cast-led video, the show wrote: “Warning: This may make you cry. The Final Season, 2019. #OITNB.”
The minute-long video includes Taylor Schilling (Piper Chapman), Laura Prepon (Alex Vause), Kate Mulgrew (Galina “Red” Reznikov) and Uzo Aduba (Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren) and thanks fans for their support while promising to “give it everything” in the final series.
Aduba said: "Season seven, you will not be disappointed. It is a season you will not forget and we are going to give you everything and more that you could have ever wanted."
"I'm so grateful for the fun times, the knowledge, the friendships, the love, the family that we have created together.”
Mulgrew added: "I'm going to miss playing and living on the edge of one of the most groundbreaking, original and controversial series of this decade."

Fans rushed to share their thoughts on the sad news, vowing that the show will “always be in their hearts”.
One wrote: “Thank you for the most iconic tv show ever made. thank you for the laughs, thank you for the tears and thank you for showing us that love can go through it all, even prison. this show will never be forgotten.”
While another said: “I’m gonna miss you #bestTVshow #Iwasntready #OITNB,” with crying and broken heart emojis.

Orange Is the New Black seasons 1-6 are available now on Netflix. Series seven will air next year.
