Nicola McLean accuses David Van Day of sexually harassing her throughout 2008 I'm A Celebrity stint

Nicola McLean has spoken out about David Van Day’s inappropriate behaviour towards her when they both took part in the 2008 series ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!‘, with the former glamour model revealing that she thinks he got away with sexually harassing her due to her career.

Nicola was left horrified by the former singer’s sexual advances – all of which was filmed for the reality show and aired on ITV.

Speaking out, Nicola recalled the moment that David tried to grope her and kiss her during a challenge – even though the pair had been arch-enemies throughout their time in the jungle.

She told The Sun: “I was washing a car but he thought it was appropriate to spank my bum and try to kiss me.

“His behaviour was very strange and made me feel so uncomfortable – I’d gone from arguing non-stop with this man who was old enough to be my father – to have his hands on my body when I was wearing my bikini.

“It was very sexually inappropriate. He even said ‘I’m a hot blooded male and I can see two things I like’.”

Despite feeling uncomfortable, Nicola feared being labelled “dramatic” if she spoke out against David.

She continued: “It was wrong and he should have been kicked out. If David Van Day had done what he did to me to someone who wasn’t a glamour model, there would have been uproar.”

Nicola also revealed that she did speak to show bosses about David’s behaviour but he remained on the show, with the mum-of-two adding: “I was only 26 and I thought I’d just put up with it. I wouldn’t do that now though.

“I was worried about work and whether people would hire me again – I didn’t want to cause a fuss – but really I should have thought ‘f*** it, I don’t care if I never work in TV again – I shouldn’t let a man twice my age act inappropriate with me’.”
