Not Going Out is back for series 9 — is it still funny?

If you see Lee Mack complaining non-stop on your telly, it's a safe bet that a new series of Not Going Out has kicked off,

The not-so-autobiographical BBC One sitcom is back for its staggering ninth series, with Thursday's premiere trying to buck its very premise by having Lee actually going out for once!

Well, sort of. In Thursday's series nine opener, Lucy's (Sally Bretton) father reluctantly allowed Lee to help clean up the mess left by builders in their new kitchen extension… and, as you can imagine, it didn't go well. A lawn was torched, for starters.
