The Orville season 3 unveils first look as premiere delayed

The Orville season 3 is right around the corner, so it's a good a time as any to drop some foota... oh.

Creator Seth MacFarlane announced that the latest season of his science-fiction comedy had been delayed, seemingly down to its new network — the Disney-owned Hulu, as opposed to the Disney-owned FOX — wanting to put it out later, rather than any issues putting the final touches on the show together.

MacFarlane made the announcement on Twitter, alongside a link to the first four minutes of the new season.

"As occasionally happens, our show has been repositioned amidst the ever-changing television schedule landscape, which means that the wait will be just a bit longer, and we're now preparing for a June 2 launch on Hulu," he wrote.

"We've always promised you a television experience that will make it worth the wait, and we're not wavering on that. We understand your frustration… so we want to give you a little taste of what’s to come. Here's a sneak peek at the first few minutes of our season opener, and our new main title!"

The opening minutes of season 3 are interesting, because if they didn't end with the new opening titles with the lovely new arrangement of the theme tune, you might not know it was The Orville at all.

Light years away from the goofy sitcom season 1 was sold as, the footage shows a young boy desperately looking for his brother as his ship is under attack, and it looks and feels like a properly serious sci-fi movie, with solid CGI and action direction for a TV comedy.

The Orville, aka New Horizons, will now premiere season 3 on Hulu on June 2. In the UK, season 1 and 2 are on Disney+ and its unlikely to change here.
