Pedestrian seriously injured after being struck by car in Tewksbury

Authorities are investigating after a person was hit by a car near a Cumberland Farms in Tewksbury Friday night.

Tewksbury Police say they responded to the area of 270 Main Street just after 5:00 p.m. for a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street.

The pedestrian was transported by medical helicopter to a Boston hospital with serious injuries, according to officials.

The driver of the car stayed on scene and is cooperating with investigators.

It is unclear if the pedestrian was in the crosswalk when they were struck.

The crash is under investigation by Tewksbury Police and the Massachusetts State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section.
