Peter Andre has hit back at Rebekah Vardy's comparison of his private parts to that of a 'miniature chipolata'.

The singer broke his silence over Miss Vardy's 2004 comments after she addressed them on day one of the 'Wagatha Christie' trial at London's High Court on Tuesday.

Vardy told the court that she 'deeply regrets' discussing the alleged size of the Mysterious Girl singer's manhood in an old interview and added that she feared Coleen Rooney — the wife of footballer Wayne Rooney — who she is suing for libel, would use the quote as an example of her 'mud-slinging'.

After Vardy's court hearing, Andre took to Instagram and wrote in since-deleted comments: "Do you know how hard it is to keep biting my lip on situations?"

However, the 49-year-old singer seemingly saw the humour in the situation and added: "The way I look at it, most people saw in the jungle how an acorn turned into an oak, so I think I'm ok.

Andre, who is making his West End debut as Vince Fontaine in a production of Grease at the Dominion Theatre, continued: "At least she has now admitted it wasn't true and was forced to say it."

'The mother-of-five, who's previously apologised for the comment, claimed she'd been forced' to take part in the "kiss and tell" interview by her ex-husband.

Miss Vardy, who is currently married to footballer Jamie Vardy and was previously married to Mark Gooden from 2001-2003 and Steve Clarke from 2005-2006, explained: "It was something I was forced to say. I was forced into a situation by my ex-husband to do this story.

"It's something I deeply regret and something that's very much part of my past. It's not nice to read. I have dealt with this. To me, this is mud-slinging.

"I was always threatened with mud-slinging by Mrs Rooney's team.

"I went through a terrible, terrible relationship. It was horrible, it was abusive, and I was forced into a situation.

"Yes, it's horrible. Would I ever do something like that again? Not in a million years. It wasn't nice."

During the court session, Miss Rooney's lawyer David Sherborne had read out parts of the interview, which had the headline, "Peter's hung like a small chipolata".

He asked Miss Vardy whether it was "respectful" of Mr Andre's "right not to share this information".

The Wags have been battling it out since October 2019, when Rooney publicly accused Vardy of leaking "false stories" about her private life.

She claimed Vardy was responsible for selling three fake stories, an allegation the 40-year-old has vehemently denied.

Vardy said in a written statement that she thought she was going to "pass out" when she heard the very public accusation while she was on holiday.

"I do not fully remember the journey back to the hotel because I was almost hyperventilating. I knew that I had not done anything wrong," she said.

Mr Sherborne said Rooney's actions, which including planting fake stories on her private instagram stories, which she then accused his client, her former pal who was privy to the stories of leaking, were solid.

“In essence, this is a detective story and like any good detective story you never find the culprit standing over the body with a smoking gun in their hand," he said.

The court also heard Vardy's agent Caroline Watt is likely the "conduit" for the leaks as she dropped her iPhone in the North Sea by accident just days after the court ordered her to hand it over.

Text messages and media files were also lost in a series of "unfortunate events" Mr Sherborne claims is part of a "concerted effort" to conceal the truth.

“There is inference, circumstance, likelihood and probability," he said.

“If [Rebekah] gives Miss Watt the gun, the bullets and gives her blessing, that makes her just as responsible as the person who pulled the trigger."
