Peter Kay has had a heckler removed from from one of his live shows in Liverpool.

The comedy legend is currently embarking on his first tour in a decade and was reduced to tears during his first show thanks to a standing ovation from the crowd.

At a recent gig at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena, Kay had a purported heckler escorted out of the arena.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Kay can be seen to call the heckler a "a***hole".

He also said: “Oh, it’s all kicking off here. He’s a bit of an a***hole. He’s a bit annoying. I like a laugh — I’m a comedian — but I can tell all them people round there are getting a bit nowty now.

"He likes the limelight. I know I do, but I’m on stage.”

The incident was corroborated by audience members who posted about it online. One fan wrote: "Saw you tonight [at the] @MandSBankArena & I can honestly say, I laughed, cried & felt every emotion possible. You are so talented & so glad you got rid of the heckler. Please continue being you.”

Another commented: "Think there was more to it than that, everyone around him seemed p****d off and when they took him out he was staggering all over the place."

Beginning in December 2022, Kay's enormous UK tour is currently set to run until 2025. Demand for tickets saw several website crash and dates selling out in minutes.

Kay is currently set to perform 110 dates in the UK with 42 of those at Manchester's AO Arena. Following two performances in Liverpool, Kay can next be seen in Leeds on 20 January while he will perform at London's O2 Arena the following night.
