Police save dog after finding it on the side of the road in the freezing cold

A dog has been saved from freezing to death by police in Cambridgeshire.

The mixed breed greyhound was found abandoned at the side of the road in the freezing cold at the weekend.

The animal was discovered as temperatures plunged well below freezing on Sunday night.

It was found just as light was fading in a rural area by officers from Cambridgeshire Police.

Officers said the dog would almost certainly have died overnight had it not been discovered.
