Prince Philip’s funeral in pictures: Queen bids farewell to her husband of 73 years

The Queen and the Royal Family have said their final farewells to Prince Philip.

The Duke of Edinburgh was the Queen's husband of 73 years and was remembered at a funeral in Windsor Castle.

His coffin was driven to the service at the castle's St George's Chapel, on a specially modified Land Rover.

Prince Charles, heir to the throne, and the Queen and Prince Philip's other three children – Anne, Andrew and Edward – walked behind in procession.

Prince William and his brother Prince Harry – who has returned from the US to attend – also walked behind, but were separated by their cousin Peter Phillips.

The Queen, who says the death of her husband has left a huge void, was driven behind in the State Bentley.

During the service, the 94-year-old monarch stood alone due to COVID-19 restrictions as her husband's coffin was lowered into Royal Vault of the ancient chapel.

Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, who officiated at the service, said prior to the service: “She's the Queen, she will behave with the extraordinary dignity and extraordinary courage that she always does. And at the same time, she is saying farewell to someone to who she was married for 73 years.”
