Ben Miller's dark comedy crime series Professor T is scheduled to return for season two this week - but will it go ahead as planned?

Broadcasters' schedules have been subject to last minute changes and cancellations since the Queen's death on Thursday, 8 September, with many shows postponed.

When is Professor T season 2 on TV?

Good news for fans of the crime mystery series - it is one of the few programmes not to have been affected by scheduling changes, and will air as planned.

You can catch the return of Professor T for season two on Friday, 16 September at 9pm on ITV.

The six-episode series then continues weekly on Fridays in the same time slot.

Who stars in Professor T?

Returning to lead the cast is Ben Miller as the title character, Professor Jasper Tempest, who helps the police solve strange crime cases against the backdrop of Cambridge University.

Miller starred in the first three series of Death In Paradise, has appeared in Bridgerton, and is best known for his comedy work with Alexander Armstrong.

Adding to the star power of the cast are Frances de la Tour as the professor's mother, Adelaide.

Juliet Aubrey plays Chief Inspector Christina Brand, who Professor T partners with in solving crimes.

What happens in Professor T season 2?

The return episode sees Professor T seeking help from a therapist to uncover more secrets from his troubled childhood.

But when a student is left in a coma after being badly burned in a house fire and police discover they were drugged and the fire started deliberately, they call on Professor T's help once more.

Episode two sees a barrister and his second wife murdered in a shooting with uncanny similarities to a case he prosecuted 15 years earlier.

A grisly case in episode three features a family who are found dead on their sofa as Professor T and the police try to work out whether it is a case of familicide or if the palliative care doctor mother has been targeted for her views on assisted dying.
