On Thursday, Richard Osman officially wrapped up on Pointless after 12 years of hosting the BBC quiz show, bidding an emotional farewell to his co-star Alexander Armstong in a heartfelt on-air message.

In April this year, Richard announced his decision to step down from the programme, describing it as a “joy from start to finish”.

While he will still present the celebrity editions, his time on the daytime series has come to an end, an occasion that he marked by writing on Twitter: “I will still be on screen for a while in repeats, but yesterday was my final ever episode of daytime #Pointless after 12 years.

“Only Xander and I knew that at time of recording, so I wanted to give him a heartfelt message. New episodes with new hosts will be with in September!”

But, who will replace him on the much-loved show? Here’s everything you need to know.

Who will replace Richard Osman on Pointless?

With speculation having built over who his replacement might be, the broadcaster has revealed he will actually have more than just the one.

In fact, there will be much-loved six stars who will rotate the slot.

Among the names are former Coronation Street actress Sally Lindsay, ex-Blue Peter presenter Konnie Huq and TV presenter Lauren Laverne.

Comedians Alex Brooker, Ed Gamble, and The Split star Stephen Mangan will also take it in turns to co-host alongside Alexander.

Reacting to the news, Alexander said: “This is going to be such a ride! Richard will still be in once a week on Saturdays to make sure everything’s ticking over nicely, but otherwise, it’s just me bringing new Pointless friends in and showing them the ropes.

“Loads of new and fun personalities on the desk next to me. I can’t wait.”

Sally also expressed her excitement, sharing: “As everyone knows I love a game show and being asked to sit in Richard Osman’s hallowed chair is beyond thrilling! Can’t wait to be ‘Pointless’!”

Stephen added: “I am incredibly excited to be joining my old friend Xander on such an iconic show. What could possibly go wrong?”
