A Toothill resident has slammed criminals who keep targeting the area.

Paul Young, 35, who lives in the area, got in touch with the Adver after his car was allegedly targeted by thugs on Tuesday night.

Mr Young alleges that his family members’ car was hit roughly between 10pm and 3am in Edington Close with two grey bricks used to smash the back and side windows.

Paul said: “I’m really upset that people would do things like this for nothing. It wasn’t a theft it was criminal damage and that is disgusting.

“The council and police are never forthcoming. Even with a registered vulnerable adult on their property that feels unsafe with these unprovoked attacks, they don’t offer support or are willing to add CCTV to the block.

“No one should suffer like this and also have to fork out money to keep replacing windows and wing mirrors when these horrible people think it’s fun to damage other people’s property.”

Mr Young said it wasn’t the first time his family had been targeted and that four cars had been damaged over the last two-and-a-half years.

“The council and police can never do anything without CCTV footage and the council won’t put any up around their flats in the street. The carpark behind is always being targeted which is why no one parks there,” he added.

“All flat owners park on the streets which is where my family members’ car was targeted.

“People hang about there often at night and drug deals happen often in the car park too, but nothing happens.”

Mr Young claimed that the area was no longer safe and wanted the council to do more to help.

Wiltshire Police has been approached for comment.
