This is the revolting moment a drunk man spits at a police officer’s face as he is arrested.

Jamie Glover, 31, was part of a group acting drunkenly on board a train from Huddersfield, with their behaviour prompting the train manager to contact police officers on the ground who met the group at York station.

Glover ignored warnings about his behaviour and shouted and swore, police said. He was subsequently arrested and taken to a police van.

Body-worn camera footage then captured the moment he turned to the officer who was apprehending him and spat directly in his face.

It happened on Friday last week and Glover, of Batley, was subsequently found guilty of being drunk and disorderly and assaulting an emergency worker at York Magistrates’ Court.

He was due to appear for sentencing on Tuesday, but failed to turn up. British Transport Police has now launched an appeal to find Glover and bring him to justice.

Sgt James Finch said: “There’re few things more disgusting than being spat at on duty.

“It’s completely repulsive behaviour, reserved for offenders either completely ignorant of the consequences or who have no respect for themselves or other people.

“This was initially a low-level case of anti-social behaviour, instead Glover chose to seriously escalate the situation and assault one of our officers.

“This is something we take extremely seriously, it’s not accepted as part of the job and he will face the consequences.”
