Prime Video has debuted the first trailer for star-studded drama Daisy Jones & The Six - and confirmed that the cast will also release an accompanying album.

Riley Keough, Sam Claflin and Suki Waterhouse star in the TV adaptation of Taylor Jenkins Reid's novel about the rise and fall of a fictional 1970s rock group.

Keough - the granddaughter of Elvis Presley and daughter of Lisa Marie Presley who recently passed away - stars as lead singer Daisy Jones and will showcase her vocals on a record of songs from the series as well as in the show.

She is joined by Claflin as singer-songwriter Billy Dunne, with Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse, and Sebastian Chaco making up the rest of The Six.

The book and TV adaptation follow a talented group of young musicians who enjoyed fleeting superstardom before imploding, and tell their version of events in documentary style as well as showing flashbacks to their heyday.

Fans of the novel will know that the group's fictional album Aurora and its songs are mentioned throughout, and will now get the chance to actually hear them as an album of Aurora will be released on 3 March along with the series debut.

Songwriter and producer Blake Mills created the songs and album from the book, with the help of Marcus Mumford, Phoebe Bridgers, Jackson Browne, and instrumentalists who have played with The Who, Nine Inch Nails, Pearl Jam, Elton John, David Bowie and Jeff Beck.

The trailer offers a first listen to one of the tracks, Regret Me, as well as a sneak peek at the storyline about infighting and doomed romance that lead to the group's demise.

Daisy Jones & The Six has been made by Reese Witherspoon's production company, who optioned the book for TV before it even went on sale.

Jenkins Reid's novel is a New York Times bestseller that was first published in 2019, and she also wrote Malibu Rising which is being adapted for TV by Hulu.
