Robert Kazinsky made a surprise return to 'EastEnders' last night (01.11.21).

The 37-year-old star reprised his role as Sean Slater for a one-off comeback to the BBC One soap, as his character's mum Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) asked him to return to help persuade his sister Stacey Slater's (Lacey Turner) new wife Eve (Heather Peace) to leave Albert Square.

Sean appeared to convince Eve to flee the Slaters', but he later realised she may not be the person Jean thought she was.

The character last appeared on 'EastEnders' in 2019, after nine years away from Walford, to see his mum, who was battling ovarian cancer.

Robert wrote on Twitter at the time: "Happy to be back, I have a short break between projects and Kate Oates is a superstar. It's something I always wanted to do to say thank you to Sean and the show, and we have worked to fit it in in the most explosive way. I think you'll be... entertained."

EastEnders' executive producer Jon Sen praised Robert and Gillian's on-screen chemistry as "transfixing".

He said: "When you see the bond between Sean and Jean, but also the real chemistry, the on-screen chemistry between Gillian and Rob, you can't take your eyes away from it. It's transfixing.

"We wanted to show just how close that bond is between mother and son.

"And we're telling the story that, yes, Jean's cancer has been terrible for her but, in a way, has been one of the best things that's ever happened to her because it's shown her inner-courage and it's brought back her son."

Since departing 'EastEnders' in 2009, Robert has gone on to star in numerous movies, including 'Pacific Rim' and 'Captain Marvel'.
