Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, created by Russell T Davies, first premiered back in 2007 and enjoyed five successful series. But it was tragically cut short in 2011 following the death of its main star Elisabeth Sladen, who sadly passed away due to pancreatic cancer.
Sladen played the titular role of Sarah Jane Smith, an investigative journalist who dabbled in the odd space-time adventure, as of course we all do. But as wonderful as her character was, she was only as good as the people around her.
So, where are the rest of the gang now, and what have they been up to following their time on the show? We did some digging and this is what we found…
Anjli Mohindra (Rani Chandra)
Arguably the biggest star to emerge from the sci-fi series – she made it on to our 2019's rising stars list, no less – Mohindra was introduced as Yasmin Paige's replacement.
Rani was an aspiring journalist who lived with her parents opposite SJ's house in Ealing, west London, eventually going on to become one of SJ's trusted confidantes. Since her time on the show, Mohindra has appeared in a number of popular, high-quality offerings, including BBC's The Missing starring James Nesbitt, Channel 4's Cucumber (also written by Russell T Davies), and ITV police drama Paranoid.
But her most notable roles to date include Bancroft, Dark Heart, Mark Gatiss's Christmas horror short The Dead Room and, of course, BBC smash hit Bodyguard in which she playedNadia, a role which she almost turned down.
Whether she will return for the show's second season, however, remains to be seen.
Tommy Knight (Luke Smith)
Series regular Knight played 'the Archetype', a boy who looked liked a regular human being, but had actually been grown by the Bane Mother, played by Samantha Bond, from thousands of samples of DNA. He also possessed superhuman intelligence and had a photographic memory, and was eventually adopted by SJ.
Following Sladen's death, it was revealed that had the series continued, Luke was to become CBBC's first gay character, and Sanjay would have been his boyfriend.
After a number of minor roles in the likes of Casualty, Doctors and The Bill, he landed his role in Sarah Jane, before eventually going on to appear in Doctor Who itself.
Now 26-years-old, Knight's most notable TV roles include Chalk/Kevin Skelton in Waterloo Road, Dealer Dan in You, Me and the Apocalypse, and his most recent role, Brodie, in ITV period drama Victoria.
Yasmin Paige (Maria Jackson)
Now 27-years-old, Paige appeared on the show during 2007 and 2008 as Sarah Jane's 13-year-old neighbour in Ealing. She started out as a series regular, but was written out in the opening of series 2, appearing via dialogue and old footage, due to school commitments.
Following her time on the show, Paige went on to appear in a number of different roles, including Richard Ayoade’s Submarine as Jordana Bevan, Beth Mitchell in BBC Three comedy Pramface, ITV's Murderland starring Robbie Coltrane, and Josie Young in The Good Karma Hospital.
Back in the day, she also appeared in Ballet Shoes, starring Emma Watson.
Paige is also about to appear in the UK revival of Circle Mirror Transformation, a play written by Annie Baker, alongside Fleabag's Sian Clifford (and others), which opens at HOME Manchester in March,
Daniel Anthony (Clyde Langer)
Clyde (who replaced the character Kelsey Hooper) was a friend of SJ's, helping her investigate alien activity taking place in and around London.
Before his time on the show, Anthony was a soaps regular, appearing as JJ in Eastenders and Lex Keavey in Doctors. If you ever watched Disney Channel, you might also remember As the Bell Rings, in which he played Danny.
And since his time on the show, he has returned to Casualty for a couple of minor roles (Anthony has played different characters every time he's appeared on the show), A Touch of Frost starring David Jason and ITV's Demons, as well as appearing once again as Clyde in SJA: Alien Files, and as himself in My Sarah Jane: A Tribute to Elisabeth Sladen, a short paying homage to the star of the series.
Sinead Michael (Sky Smith)
Sky, a 'Fleshkind' humanoid used as a weapon against the robotic Metalkind, is eventually adopted by SJ after her powers are neutralised – had the series continued, 'The Battle of Bannerman Road' would have revealed that Sky was actually the Trickster's daughter. But it's unknown what would have happened following that reveal.
Now 20-years-old, Sinead has only had a handful of minor roles in the likes of Waking the Dead, Clash of the Titans, Doctors and Silent Witness, back in 2005.
But she doesn't appear to have worked on anything else since.
And how could we forget extraterrestrial computer Mr Smith, voiced by Pointless's Alexander Armstrong, and K9, who was voiced by actor John Leeson, best known for his involvement in Doctor Who.
