Nearly three decades after the original series ended, a new batch of Saved by the Bell episodes is finally right around the corner.

A new reboot of the hit high school sitcom continues the story of the original series, which aired from 1989 to 1993, and the subsequent sequel spin-off, Saved by the Bell: The College Years.

The series (also titled Saved by the Bell) will focus on a new group of Bayside High students from across the socio-economic spectrum.

It has already been confirmed that several members of the original cast will reprise their roles, including Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Tiffani Thiessen.

But what has become of the cast of the series in the intervening years? See below for a list of the original Saved by the Bell cast, and where they are now.

Mark-Paul Gosselaar

Gosselaar fronted the original Saved by the Bell playing the incorrigible Zack Morris, and returns to the reboot as both actor and executive producer.

In the interim, Gosselaar has enjoyed a handful of strong roles, including as a detective in groundbreaking police procedural NYPD Blue, a defence attorney in Raising the Bar and playing one half of the lead pairing in Franklin & Bash.

As well as acting, Gosselaar has also made headlines as a successful track cyclist.

Tiffani Thiessen

Thiessen played popular cheerleader Kelly Kapowski in the original Saved by the Bell. After the series ended, the actor joined the cast of Beverly Hills 90210, playing Valerie Malone.

Subsequent roles have been lower-profile for Thiessen, although she has appeared in White Collar and hosted her own cooking show, Dinner at Tiffani’s.

Thiessen has also authored a recipe book, entitled Pull Up a Chair: Recipes from My Family to Yours.

Mario Lopez

Lopez arrived to play AC Slater on Saved by the Bell as an already established actor, having featured in Kids Incorporated, aka Pablo and The Golden Girls.

In the years since, Lopez has become known for his presenting roles, serving as the host for two seasons of the US X Factor, and America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV.

Lopez, who has also appeared on Broadway, is currently the host of Access Hollywood. He will be reprising the role of Slater on the forthcoming Saved by the Bell reboot.

Elizabeth Berkley

After playing the outspoken Jessie Spano on Saved by the Bell, Berkley went on to play Nomi Malone in the scandalising film Showgirls.

Berkley enjoyed a number of prominent roles across the screen and stage, including opposite Eddie Izzard in a London stage production of Lenny.

In 2010, the actor and animal rights activist also started an advice website for teenage girls, called Ask Elizabeth.

Dustin Diamond

After playing the affable nerd Samuel “Screech” Powers on Saved by the Bell, Diamond began doing stand-up comedy. He reprised the role of Screech in both The College Years and the subsequent spin-off Saved by the Bell: A New Class.

He filed for bankruptcy in 2001, however, a year after A New Class finished airing.

In 2006, Diamond released his own sex tape, entitled Screeched – Saved by the Smell, although he later admitted that the film featured a stunt penis.

Diamond was convicted in 2015 of disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon, and was sentenced to four months in prison.

Lark Voorhies

In the original series, Voorhies played Lisa Marie Turtle, the group’s notorious “rich girl”.

Voorhies’ biggest post-Saved by the Bell role was a recurring part on the LL Cool J-starring sitcom In the House, and a two-year arc on the US soap Days of Our Lives.

Recently, she has stepped back from acting, with her most recent role being in the religious TV special Closer to God: Jessica's Journey, released in 2012.

Dennis Haskins

Haskins played the nefarious Principal Belding in Saved by the Bell and its spin-offs, a character who would be regularly pitted against Zack Morris.

The actor has gone on to take small roles in hit series Mad Men, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and How I Met Your Mother.

Most recently, he could be seen in 2019’s acclaimed drama Clemency.
