The three new additions will be joining an already impressive cast, including Westworld star James Marsden, Aquaman's Amber Heard, 13 Reasons Why cast member Henry Zaga and Assassination Nation's Odessa Young.

The Stand tells the story of a post-apocalyptic world decimated by biological warfare, with the only hope for humanity coming in the shape of a 108-year-old mother and a handful of survivors.

King announced back in January that his classic book was being turned into a TV series, saying in a statement: "I'm excited and so very pleased that The Stand is going to have a new life on this exciting new platform.

"The people involved are men and women who know exactly what they're doing; the scripts are dynamite. The result bids to be something memorable and thrilling. I believe it will take viewers away to a world they hope will never happen."

The Stand doesn't yet have a premiere date on CBS All Access in the US.
