Ashley Jensen has said she had no idea her husband was "capable" of suicide and was "extremely shocked" by his death.

The Extras actress, 48, revealed her heartbreak at finding Terence Beesley’s body during an inquest into his death on Tuesday.

Jensen found Beesley at their home in Somerset on November 30. Emergency services were called, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a statement Jensen said: “I was extremely shocked by what happened that night and I will never ever forget it.

“Terry and I had been together for 18 years but I had no idea he was capable of what he did.”

Coroner Peter Harrowing ruled that Beesley’s death was a suicide. He said: “There is no evidence that I have heard to indicate why Mr Beesley took the act that he did but in any event it is not my function to answer the question why Mr Beesley might have taken that act.

“Mr Beesley knew that his wife and young child were not at the house and he would not be disturbed… I am satisfied beyond reasonable doubt that Mr Beesley made a deliberate act.”

Beesley and Jensen had been married since 2007. They first met in 1999 during a stage production of King Lear in London.

They share eight-year-old son Francis.

At the time of his death a spokesman for Jensen said she had been left “devastated”.

A statement read: “Ashley is devastated and respectfully asks for privacy at this extremely sad and difficult time.”
