Spoiler alert for The Last Of Us fans as US set to air episode days early

The Last Of Us fans in the UK will need to be on the lookout for spoilers this weekend as the US is set to air the next episode days early.

HBO's TV adaptation of the disaster scenario video game usually airs in the US on a Sunday night and is simulcast on Sky in the UK at 2am on a Monday, repeated later in the day at 9pm.

But episode five is set for an early release in the US as its usual Sunday night air time would clash with the Super Bowl, meaning it has been shifted forward to 9pm on Friday.

At the moment, the TV schedules for Sky are still showing that episode five will be airing in its usual 2am and 9pm Monday slots, meaning viewers will have to be careful not to stumble across any plot twists in advance.

The episode will also air in its usual 9pm Sunday slot in the US, but as so many viewers are expected to opt for the Super Bowl instead, it has been given an early preview date on Friday when it can be streamed on HBO.

Viewers and critics have heaped praise on The Last Of Us so far, calling it one of the scariest shows they have seen as well as being moved to tears by some storylines.

It follows a pandemic-struck future where a fungus is infecting and taking over humans, with those who don't have the fungus living in quarantine and killing off anyone affected.

One man is attempting a dangerous journey across the US with a young girl who he has broken out of quarantine as they battle fungal zombies and a military who will shoot them on sight.

Recently, fans shared how emotional they felt over one episode which showed two men meeting, falling in love and spending 20 years together before finally entering into a suicide pact when one of them became seriously ill.

The series is based on the 2013 video game of the same name.
