Stacey Solomon lands DIY rescue show as Reese Witherspoon's first UK production

Stacey Solomon's TV reign has reached new heights as she has landed a DIY rescue show that will be the first UK project made by Reese Witherspoon's production company.

The Loose Women star has pivoted into DIY shows in recent years and this week returned to BBC One with a second season of Sort Your Life Out, where she helps families to declutter and reorganise their homes.

Now, she has been snapped up by Channel 4 with the backing of Hollywood star Witherspoon for new series Bricking It, which sees her come to the rescue for people left in the lurch by bad builders.

Solomon, currently pregnant with her fifth child, will get her hands dirty by sorting out shoddy and unfinished jobs herself, and helping viewers with inspiration and confidence in taking on their own building and DIY projects.

Tackling everything from brick laying to basic plumbing, roof-tiling to mastering hacksaws, Solomon will share the tips she picked up while renovating her own home, Pickle Cottage.

Solomon said: "From an early age, my dad taught me DIY and the importance of fixing things yourself where you can. I still find it so satisfying to build or repair around the house and it saves loads of money.

Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine production company "puts women at the center of every story it creates" and is behind adaptations of Where The Crawdads Sing, Daisy Jones and The Six, and the US Netflix tidying show Get Organised.

This is their first UK commission and executive vice president of the UK division Sarah Lazenby said: "Anyone who follows Stacey online knows that when it comes to making DIY demos joyous, she has it nailed.

"Her genuine passion is both impressive and infectious, and we’re delighted to be partnering with her and Channel 4 to bring that invaluable knowledge to the nation at a time when we could all do with more skills that save money."

Channel 4's senior commissioning editor Clemency Green added: "Stacey has a natural talent for making a house a home. She is perfectly placed to show all of us that with a few clever tips we can all have a go at DIY and make our homes beautiful on a budget."
