Stalker who terrorised 121 victims jailed after creating 'rape list'

A stalker who terrorised his 121 victims online by posting their personal details alongside graphic threats of sexual violence has been jailed.

Vishaal Vijapura, 28, of Shirley, Croydon, took pictures from social media profiles and even traced ancestry records in a bid to find more information about them, police say.

His conviction and imprisonment follow a lengthy investigation which started when police were made aware of a list he had published online containing the victims' personal details, as well as a short essay attempting to justify raping the women.

Vijapura previously pleaded guilty to seven counts of stalking involving fear of violence and was jailed for two years and eight months at Croydon Crown Court on Tuesday.

He was also made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for a term of five years.

The Metropolitan Police say he took victims' images from their personal social media profiles and published these with a rhetoric stating they enjoyed outlandish sexual gratification.

He also published posts online of them with their personal details, encouraging serious sexual violence against them.

Vijapura sent many of the victims direct messages containing "vile and horrific topics" with sexualised themes, police said.

Some of those affected said they were too scared to go outside alone after being threatened by Vijapura.

Detective Inspector Paul Smith said: "The victims in the case have shown great strength in coming forward.

"They have supported the investigation and provided evidence of how Vijapura's misogynistic behaviour has deeply affected their lives. It is wholly right that he has received a custodial sentence."
