Stephen Graham is set to star as an ex Neo Nazi in a true crime drama about a far right group who plotted to kill an MP.

The Walk-In, due to air on ITV in October, has been written by Oscar nominee and Bafta winner Jeff Pope and follows the efforts to take down a group planning murder by using a risky strategy of placing a mole in their midst.

Graham, known for his work in This Is England, Help, Time and The Virtues, plays activist Matthew Collins, a reformed Neo-Nazi, now working as a bona fide journalist for the anti-racist organisation Hope not Hate.

A new trailer shows Collins explaining his past as a mole in the BNP in the 90s who was forced to flee the UK, and work infiltrating other far right groups to gain enough incriminating evidence against them to publish online.

However, there was one group he wasn't able to break into which continued to grow in strength relatively unchecked until the horrific murder of MP Jo Cox brought their potential into sharp focus and they became the first far right organisation to be banned by the government since the Second World War.

Collins believed he'd lost his chance to bring them to justice, until in March 2017 he was contacted by someone claiming to be a member who said he wanted to turn mole and gave details of a disturbing plot to kill a second MP.

Memories are long where Collins and his perceived betrayal are concerned, though, and he soon finds himself and his family in danger all over again as he fights for the truth to come out.

ITV viewers will see the trailer air on TV for the first time on Tuesday evening, with filming already having taken place in London and the surrounding area.

The Walk-In will air weekly for five episodes, beginning on Monday, 3 October on ITV and the full series will be available as a boxset on ITV Hub after the first episode airs.
