Steps have remembered a celeb-studded night in LA which ended in them 'escaping' over the wall of Jayne Mansfield's former mansion.

As the band continue on their latest tour, with their Platinum Collection album going to number, the group looked back on 25 years in the business with Kate Thornton on White Wine Question Time.

Lisa Scott-Lee told Thornton: "We've been so lucky to travel the world and have all these amazing experiences," as the group remembered a trip to Oman to entertain army troops and tours across the globe.

Faye Tozer, along with bandmates Scott-Lee and Lee Latchford-Evans remembered an evening in LA when they had been out there filming with Disney.

She said they had been out in bars and seen Gwen Stefani, which she described as 'amazing, because she's my idol'.

The group then started drinking with singer Engelbert Humperdinck's son who they had started talking to on the evening.

Tozer said: "We ended up going back to his house and — or his dad's house — he had bought Jayne Mansfield's mansion.

"So we went into this really retro, movie type house, and it had a heart shaped pool."

But as idyllic as it sounds, Tozer said they ended up having to escape over the mansion's wall to get a taxi back to their hotel because it got a bit 'too much'.

Ian 'H' Watkins also remembered many celebrity stories, including the private jet rides with Britney Spears which caused a rift in the band at the time.

While Claire Richards recalled a story about the Tragedy singers performing for the troops in Oman, Afghanistan, in 2001 along with Bobby Davro and Geri Halliwell.

She remembered that they tents they had been given to get read in were 'boiling and there was no light' so she had pulled a chair outside to put on her makeup.

Describing the staple mascara of the early noughties, which was put on first in a white layer before being followed the black layer, she said halfway through her putting it on, Halliwell came out with her dancers and film crew to take part in a pre-show ritual where they all held hands.

With a layer of white mascara on, and Halliwell on one side and Davro on the other, Richards said she took part in this pre-show ritual.

"I didn't know what was going on, I had no idea," she admitted. "I was just sitting there thinking I don't know what's happening, this is the weirdest thing ever."
