Strictly Come Dancing judge Craig Revel Horwood has branded Susannah Constantine’s samba as “one of the worst” he’s ever seen.

The judge, known for his critical comments, dusted off his one paddle – the lowest score available – for Constantine’s Carmen Miranda routine.

Revel Horwood told The Sun Online: “[She was] One of the worst. I think the last time I gave someone a ‘one’ was nine years ago. So she’s broken my silence on my vow of never giving anyone a ‘one’.

“Bless her. I had to talk to her after the show and we just had a really good chat in the BBC bar about it just saying ‘look you’ve just got to relax and pull yourself together and try and get on with it, pick yourself, forget that ever happened.”

Revel Horwood actually had given a one since 2009, awarding Nancy Dell’Olio and, coincidentally, Anton Du Beke, the measly score for their Waltz to In Napoli.

Fashion expect Constantine scored 12 overall from the panel for her dance floor debut, hoping to climb up from the bottom on the leaderboard this week with a Foxtrot.

Meanwhile, Constantine shared a brutally honest training update on her Instagram on Wednesday morning, saying that she is “walking on a tightrope of disaster”.

She told her followers: “When Anton says ‘What foot are you standing on?’ I’ll go, ‘right’ and it’ll be my left.

"And he’ll go again, ‘What foot are you standing on?’ front or back and I’ll go ‘the front’ and I’m standing on the back.

"It’s like I just can’t get my brain to engage and I don’t know if that’s age or…I just don’t know what it is. Or maybe it’s fear.

“Anyway, I think it’s not going very well. Anton is much more positive than me, and he is an amazing man. And I am loving the friendship that’s building between us. That is the best thing that I could ever wish for.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
