'Strictly Come Dancing' reveals movie week songs and dances

It's a milestone in the ballroom this week as Strictly Come Dancing reaches its first theme week of 2022.

The BBC One contest has released its song and dance list for the couples for movie week, which airs its live show on Saturday evening and the results show on Sunday.

Competition favourite Will Mellor and his partner Nancy Xu are turning to classic film Dirty Dancing for their American Smooth to 'Cry To Me', while high-scoring Fleur East and her partner Vito Coppola will also dance an American Smooth taking inspiration from The Little Mermaid, set for a new live-action release, to 'Part of Your World'.

Fan favourite Hamza Yassin and his partner Jowita Przystal are taking on the notoriously tricky Rumba to the theme from Jurassic Park.

Ellie Simmonds and Nikita Kuzmin are hoping for high scores with a Quickstep to 'Peppy and George' from The Artist, while Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu will Waltz to 'One Hand, One Heart' from West Side Story.

Helen Skelton and Gorka Marquez are dancing a Viennese Waltz to 'Hopelessly Devoted To You' from Grease, as are Matt Goss and Nadiya Bychkova - although theirs is to 'Hold My Hand' from Top Gun: Maverick.

It's the battle of the Cha Chas for three couples: Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe will dance to 'The Shoop Shoop Song (It's In His Kiss)' from Mermaids; Jayde Adams and Karen Hauer are taking on Flashdance classic 'What A Feeling'; and James Bye and Amy Dowden will perform to 'Hooked On A Feeling' from Guardians of the Galaxy.

Viewers will see two Charlestons, from Kym Marsh and Graziano Di Prima to Sweet Charity's 'If My Friends Could See Me Now', and Tyler West and Dianne Buswell to 'Flash, Bang, Wollop!' from Half a Sixpence.

There are also two Sambas to look forward to - Richie Anderson and Giovanni Pernice's to 'Hakuna Matata' from The Lion King, and Tony Adams and Katya Jones' to 'You Sexy Thing' from The Full Monty.

Last week was the first elimination of the series, where Kaye Adams and Kai Widdrington left the competition after going up against Goss and Bychkova in the dance off.

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday at 6.30pm on BBC One.
