Neil Jones wants to dance with Theresa May.

The 39-year-old dancer - who is best known for his role as a professional on 'Strictly Come Dancing' - thinks the former Prime Minister would be "brilliant" on the ballroom competition, after she famously showed off her moves to ABBA's 'Dancing Queen' at the Tory Party conference in 2018.

He said: "We haven’t had a politician on the show for a while and they’re always great value. Theresa May would be brilliant – she’d be a real challenge as we’ve all seen her try to dance."

Neil - who was paired with former 'EastEnders' actress Nina Wadia and eliminated first in last year's edition of the Saturday night favourite - added that the Conservative MP's dancing was "not good", but believes he could teach her a thing or two about "Latin rhythm."

He is quoted by The Sun newspaper's TV Biz Column as saying: "It wasn’t good. I reckon I could get some Latin rhythm into those stiff hips, though. Anything is possible!"

The show has previously featured politicians such as Ann Widdecombe - who danced with Anton Du Beke in 2010 - and former Shadow Chancellor Ed Balls, who finished in sixth place with pro Katya Jones in 2016, after treating audiences to a memorable performance of the salsa to Psy hit 'Gangnam Style'.

Neil is set to return to 'Strictly Come Dancing' when the annual competition hits screens again in the autumn and is part of an already confirmed lineup that includes fellow professionals Dianne Buswell, Graziano Di Prima, Amy Dowden, Karen Hauer, Cameron Lombard, Gorka Marquez, Giovanni Pernice, Jowita Przystal, Johannes Radebe, Kai Widdrington, Katya Jones, Luba Mushtuk, Nadiya Bychkova and Nancy Xu.
