'Strictly Come Dancing's Flavia Cacace and Jimi Mistry swap dancefloor for farm

Strictly Come Dancing stars Flavia Cacace and Jimi Mistry are literally living The Good Life after quitting the dancefloor to become farmers.

The professional dancing champion and the former EastEnders star - who married in 2013 after meeting on the BBC dance show - have given up life on the stage following the coronavirus pandemic and moved to a farm in Devon.

Cacace, 41, and Mistry, 48, claim to be living "our self sustainable dream" since moving to the farm in January, where they are growing vegetables as well as keeping goats, alpacas called Pablo and Zak and sheep, as well as two dogs.

The dancing couple are currently preparing to welcome chickens.

Former Coronation Street actor Mistry revealed he now enjoys spending his evenings watering his plants and enjoying watch the sunset on the rural landscape while sipping a cold beer.

Cacace said life working on the farm was "so satisfying" as she shared pictures of herself mucking out an old goad shed and making compost.

The couple have been enjoying meals of homegrown carrots, potatoes and beetroot as well as freshly caught fish.

They even compared themselves to Tom and Barbara Good - played by Richard Briers and Felicity Kendal - in the hit 1970s BBC sitcom The Good Life, about a couple who quit their jobs to turn their suburban home into a self-sufficient farm.

Professional dancer Cacace was born in Italy but grew up in Guildford. She rose to fame on the hit BBC dance show with her professional dance partner and childhood sweetheart Vincent Simone.

They split in 2007 after Cacace fell for EastEnders actor Matt Di Angelo, who she was runner-up on Strictly with that same year.

In 2010 she was partnered with Mistry on the celebrity dance competition. They were eliminated in week six, but won each others hearts.

The couple married in 2013 with a celebration at London's St Pancras Renaissance Hotel, the location for The Spice Girl's iconic Wannabe video.

Cacace won Strictly in 2012 with Olympic gymnast Louis Smith.

Mistry has a 20-year-old daughter from his first marriage.

The dancing stars are not the only celebrities to have swapped the spotlight for farm life. Countryfile's Matt Baker quit The One Show last year to return to his family farm in the Durham Dales and former Dancing On Ice judge Jason Gardiner has become a sustainable farmer in Portugal since leaving the show.

But it doesn't work out for everyone. Abz Love from boyband 5ive quit music for rural life in Wales in 2014, documenting his new life in BBC Two series Country Strife: Abz on the Farm.

But last year he told The Sun: "The animals just all died, the plants weren't growing any more - I'm a rubbish farmer. There was another plan for me, so I'm back in ­London.
