Strictly Come Dancing's Tyler West runs London Marathon hours after wowing judges

Strictly Come Dancing's Tyler West has completed the London Marathon, just hours after impressing the judges with his energetic jive.

The 26-year-old Kiss radio DJ ran 26 miles in aid of young people's charity UK Youth on Sunday, having earned 31 points for his performance on the BBC live dance show the night before.

West told BBC Sport: "I committed to it earlier in the year and I'm never going to let people down.

"Dianne will be looking after me to make sure I preserve my body and don't push myself too far."

The former CBBC TV presenter performed a jive with professional partner Dianna Buswell on the latest round of Strictly, and was praised by the judges for his dancing skills.

Head judge Shirley Ballas, told him: “You’re the real deal. You bring something you can’t teach."

West said on social media: "Thousands raised @uk.youth , indescribable experience, got the steps right & completed it Thankyou to everyone for the support it means the world."

Buswell commented: "Partner congratulations on a double accomplishment getting through to movie week and completing a marathon! What a legend !!! @tylerwestt

"We want to thank you lovely lot for voting for team ty-di we appreciate it lots @bbcstrictly"

West and Buswell had been hovering near the bottom of the leaderboard in Week One after scoring just 22 out 40 for the their American Smooth.

But the former MTV presenter showed great improvement in week two, and after Ballas's comments is now being tipped to make it to the final.

West has said: “Oh, yeah 100 per cent I would love to lift the Glitterball. I would be my mum’s favourite son for the rest of her life.

“Going from being a 14 year old that never used to talk to anyone or come out of his bedroom on a council estate in south London, to lifting the Glitterball, would be an amazing achievement and a dream come true.”
