Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick mourning the loss of his mum

Supervet star Noel Fitzpatrick is grieving after his beloved mum died at the age of 92.

Rita Fitzpatrick passed away in her home in Ireland on Wednesday (2 February).

A statement in the Mirror said: “Our beloved mother, Rita Fitzpatrick (92), passed away peacefully in her home at Esker, Mountmellick, on Wednesday 2 February.

"Rita was predeceased by her husband Sean, brothers Tom, Sean and Pat, her sister Marie and her daughter-in-law Sheila."

It went on: "She is mourned by her sister Philomena, her children John, Mary, Frances, Grace, Noel and Josephine, her daughter-in-law Geraldine, her sons-in-law Robert, Liam, Willie and Patrick, her brother-in-law PJ, her sisters-in-law Bernie, Ettie and Sadie, her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, wonderful neighbours and everyone in her care team."

Vet Fitzpatrick, 54, often spoke of his mum on TV.

At Christmas he shared a picture of them as they celebrated together.

"Happy Christmas everybody," he tweeted.

"I’m blessed to get to see my mammy today. This morning she said to me, ‘Put on that poncho I crocheted so that I can laugh at ya.’ She did just that! - followed by ‘I invented that poncho ya know.’ Which she sure did!

"I love her so much!"

The star’s dad Sean died in 2006 after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

Opening up about the loss in his book Listening To The Animals, Fitzpatrick said his dad was his “hero”.

It was August 22, 2006 and I ran from my office into the woods and as far as I could, until there was cattle, sheep and darkness, and there I fell on my knees, and I wailed,” he said.
