Suspicion and rebellion as tension builds in tonight's Happy Valley episode
TENSION will build in tonight's episode of the hit BBC series Happy Valley.
The hugely popular show kicked off its third and final series with a dramatic episode on BBC One on New Year’s Day.
The series, some of which was filmed in Bradford, will continue with episode four tonight (Sunday, January 22) at 9pm.
Sarah Lancashire has resumed her role as Sergeant Catherine Cawood for the final series.
Last week's episode was full of drama as Catherine confronted her sister Clare, played by Siobhan Finneran, over her grandson Ryan's visits to see his jailed dad Tommy Lee Royce.
The news that Clare and her partner Neil had been taking Ryan to the prison left Catherine devastated.
Meanwhile, viewers learned murderer Tommy Lee, played by James Norton, had an impending court date in Leeds and the episode was left on a cliffhanger as things came to a head between abused wife Joanna, played by Mollie Winnard, and pharmacist Faisal Bhatti, played by Amit Shah, who had been illegally supplying her with diazepam.
The BBC has released some teaser photographs featuring some of the show’s central characters ahead of tonight's episode.
As Tommy Lee's big day approaches, Catherine becomes suspicious. Meanwhile, Ryan, played by Rhys Connah, finds a new way to defy her.
Viewers will also be introduced to notorious gang leader Darius Knezevic, played by Alec Secareanu, while the fresh photographs suggest tense scenes between Faisal and Joanna's abusive husband Rob, played by Mark Stanley.
In this series, Catherine discovers the remains of a gangland murder victim in a drained reservoir which sparks a chain of events that unwittingly leads her straight back to Tommy Lee.
