Teen driver killed in head-on crash while driving seven passengers in early hours

A teenage driver was killed when the car he was driving with seven passengers inside collided head-on with a taxi.

The teen was driving a Volkswagen Polo when it was involved in a collision with the taxi in Tongham, Surrey just after 1am on Sunday (26 September).

Surrey Police said the driver was killed in the crash and all seven of passengers in the car were taken to hospital.

The force said the front seat passenger and one of the back seat passengers were left seriously injured and remain in hospital.

The taxi driver, who wasn't carrying any passengers at the time of the crash, suffered minor injuries and was also taken to hospital.

Detective Sergeant Kani Barawi, from Surrey Police, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of the boys involved in this tragic incident, which has left one teenager dead and two more in a serious condition in hospital.

"We are working hard to establish the circumstances of the crash and would appeal to anyone with any information to contact us straightaway."
