‘Thriller’ songwriter Rod Temperton dies

English musician and songwriter Rod Temperton has died at the age of 68. Perhaps best-known for writing the likes of Thriller and Rock With You for the late Michael Jackson, Temperton started his music career in the band Heatwave, for which he wrote hits such as Boogie Nights. His work has also been recorded by singers and groups such as Donna Summer, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker and The Brothers Johnson. Warner/Chappell music publishing said he passed away last week after “a brief aggressive battle with cancer.” Tributes have been pouring in since the announcement was made.
