Billy Zane, Miranda Richardson and The Terminator's Michael Biehn will put the pedal to the metal for Sky One's new street racing drama Curfew.

The action-packed series brings viewers along for the ride with a group of ordinary people who take part in Fast & Furious-style illegal drag races from London to Scotland in order to be freed from a totalitarian regime.

Sky previously announced that the series will be led by Game of Thrones star Sean Bean, Adrian Lester (Hustle), Robert Glenister (Spooks), Phoebe Fox (Blue Iguana), Malachi Kirby (Black Mirror) and Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders).

"Joining the immensely talented cast and crew of Curfew as Joker Jones fulfils many cinematic and literary fantasies all at once," Billy Zane said today (May 1).

"Playing a gonzo cowboy, member of a viral video performance art troupe, on a healing hell-ride, just about falls square in my wheelhouse right now."

This original series comes from writer-producer Matthew Read, who has previously worked on McMafia, Troy: Fall of a City, Gunpowder and Doctor Foster. Curfew is also Miranda Richardson's first TV project since the critically-acclaimed Girlfriends debuted earlier this year.

"A childhood of soaking up Westerns has finally paid off, except that the horses are replaced by cars," Richardson said. "I'm feeling lucky to be interpreting Matthew Read's Lou: kind, tough, brave, practical and romantic – someone you definitely want on your team.

"All this and the chance to drive two wildly different vehicles. Curfew is covering a lot of new ground for me which is always fun. Fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride!"

Curfew will premiere on Sky One as well as NOW TV next year.
