Yahoo News Tom Baker's final Doctor Who season comes to Blu-ray
Doctor Who fans have been waiting for Tom Baker's complete final season to arrive on Blu-ray for ages, but rest assured that the moment has been prepared for.
Season 18 remains benchmark for Doctor Who nearly 40 years later because it signified the transition from the Fourth Doctor era to the introduction of producer John Nathan-Turner's melodramatic flare that carried over throughout the rest of the 1980s.
In Doctor Who – The Collection: Season 18, fans can re-live the Fourth Doctor's encounters with new enemies like the Foamasi, the Marshmen and the Vampiric Three Who Rule. On board the TARDIS, he welcomes young Adric (Matthew Waterhouse), Nyssa (Sarah Sutton) and Tegan (Janet Fielding) when Romana (Lalla Ward) departs with K9.
This journey all leads up to one final showdown with The Master (Geoffrey Beevers) on Logopolis that changes the course of The Doctor's life forever.
This Blu-ray includes all-new special features in addition to the K9 & Company Christmas special featuring Elisabeth Sladen, such as a surround-sound for 'Warriors' Gate', behind-the-scenes footage from multiple episodes, new editions of Behind The Sofa, Making Of, The Writers Room and Weekend With Waterhouse documentaries, plus a vintage look at Tom Baker at the Panopticon convention.
There are also brand-new episode commentaries narrated by Matthew Sweet featuring Tom Baker on 'The Leisure Hive', and Lalla Ward and guest star Rachel Davies on 'State Of Decay'. Previously-released special features are included as well.
This eight-disc Doctor Who – The Collection: Season 18 is released on February 25, 2019, and is available to pre-order through Amazon and HMV.
