Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones is inviting Welsh people to celebrate the end of lockdown as the band announces a homecoming gig with Sir Tom Jones this Christmas.

The Have A Nice Day rockers are to celebrate 25 years in the music industry with a live concert at Cardiff's Principality Stadium in Wales on Saturday 18 December, with the help of the 81-year-old Sexbomb singer and fellow Welsh band Catfish and The Bottlemen.

Kelly told NME: “It’s a celebration for Welsh people who haven’t been able to go anywhere for 18 months. I rang Tom, asking if he’d be up for giving back to the Welsh people, and he was well up for it. I’ve been watching a lot of sport during the pandemic, as there’s been nothing else to do, and a lot of that has been watching football with Tom at his apartment in London."

He added: "After almost two years of being locked down and families all having their own stories of stress, pressure, and loss, I wanted something for people to feel good about and celebrate."

"There’s a welcome in the stadium for everyone – come raise a glass and make some memories."

The show comes ahead of the release of Stereophonics' new album Oochya! and subsequent tour in March 2022.

The Principality Stadium's roof will be closed for the event, after Wales lifted the legal restrictions on the number of people who can meet indoors last month, but COVID-19 restrictions will be decided by the venue.
