Tony Adams has become the latest star announced for 'Strictly Come Dancing'.

The Arsenal and England football legend is the eleventh celebrity contestant to be confirmed for the upcoming series of the hit BBC dancing competition.

Tony's participation in the latest series of 'Strictly' was revealed on the BBC Sport Twitter account on Wednesday (10.08.22).

The 55-year-old former sports star said: "To say I'm excited is an understatement.

"The lure of the sequins and the call of the salsa has me swapping my battered old football boots for a set of Strictly soft shoes.

"I'm absolutely thrilled to be giving it my all on this year's 20th anniversary of 'Strictly Come Dancing'. I can't wait to meet my partner – god help her – and start the dancing."

Adams won four league titles as Arsenal captain and also represented England at Euro 96 and the World Cup in 1998.

Away from football, Adams received an MBE after having founded the Sporting Chance charity to help sportspeople with mental health and addiction issues.

Tony joins a star-studded lineup featuring Will Mellor, Kaye Adams, Richie Anderson, Ellie Simmonds, Kym Marsh and Tyler West.

The series will also include Matt Goss, Ellie Taylor, Jayde Adams and Molly Rainford with more names to be unveiled.

The contestants will be aiming to impress the judging panel, with Shirley Ballas joined by Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke.

The show will see four new professionals joining the lineup too, as Vito Coppola, Carlos Gu, Lauren Oakley and Michelle Tsikkas come into the fold.
