New Tottenham stadium will be 'greatest ever built', says leading engineer

Tottenham's delayed new stadium will be "the greatest that's ever been built", according to a leading engineer on the project.

Spurs were originally scheduled to celebrate moving into their new 62,062-seater stadium with the visit of Liverpool on September 15, only for "issues with the critical safety systems" to postpone the date in August.

A new date is yet to be announced, with the club needing to complete two successful test events at the ground before the Football Association grant a safety certificate.

Mauricio Pochettino on Tuesday said a move-in date before the end of the 2018 is realistic and engineer Nick Cooper has asked for patience in the face of a mammoth project.

"We've tried to do something in double time," Cooper told BBC Sport.

"If you look at any other project of this nature you wouldn't have achieved as much as we've achieved with the stadium.

"Be patient with us, we understand the frustrations."
