Fans of Netflix YA drama Trinkets, based on Kirsten Smith's novel of the same name, hadn't even made it to the end of the series before wanting to know if Elodie, Moe and Tabitha would be returning for round two.

Then they were presented with that dramatic finale and viewers were crying out for more from TV's unlikeliest trio.

So, are there plans to continue the story?

Here's everything we know about Trinkets season two.

Trinkets season 2 release date: When will it air?

It's bittersweet news, friends.

Trinkets will be returning for season two, but it will be the show's last.

We don't currently have an official date, but we do know that the final chapter will hit screens in 2020.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources revealed that "Netflix wanted to let viewers know upfront that there would not be a third season" following the glut of sudden cancellations, and season two would "provide the natural conclusion to the story".

As soon as we know when it will land, we'll pop that date right here.

Trinkets season 2 cast: Who's in it?

All of your favourites will be back for the final episodes, which means returns for show leads Elodie (Brianna Hildebrand), Tabitha (Quintessa Swindell) and Moe (Kiana Madeira).

And there were no deaths or big exits in the first season, which means the following should also be back on our screens: Luka (Henry Zaga), Brady (Brandon Butler), Noah (Odiseas Georgiadis), Elodie's dad Doug (Larry Sullivan), her step-mum Jenna (Dana Green) and her step-brother Spencer (Parker Hall), Shoplifters Anonymous chair Shawn (Larisa Oleynik), Moe's mum Vicky (October Moore), Tabitha's dad Whit (Linden Ashby), her mum Lori (Joy Bryant), and Sabine (Katrina Cunningham).

There's also a chance we might meet Moe's dad in the second season if he decides to bite the bullet and face his daughter.

Trinkets season 2 plot: What will happen?

In the promotional material for season two, fans have been promised answers to their questions, of which there are many.

At the end of season one, Elodie ran away from home after her dad told her that she was being sent to a treatment facility in Seattle to help her overcome her shoplifting addiction. We also saw Moe steal a bottle of tequila from a shop, while Tabitha ignored Brady's threats about telling both his parents and the police that she nicked his car, and went to stay at Luka's.

By the looks of it, Brady did call the police, which means there could be trouble ahead for Tabitha, and if Moe is caught shoplifting, she will also be in a world of trouble. Then there's Elodie, who broke the law by ditching school to head off into the sunset with Sabine, not to mention her dad being extremely concerned about her mental health.

Season two will tackle the fallout from all of that, as well as more of Brady attempting to do his worst, Tabitha and Luka's blossoming romance (is he hiding any dark secrets?), what the reaction will be to Noah and Moe's relationship from their peers, and what Moe's plans are after she was kicked off the STEM programme for punching Brady.

The leading trio were all asked what they hoped to see for their characters in the show's final season.

For Elodie, Hildebrand wants to see her blossom and "own a little bit more of who she is...with pride, not anxiety".

For Moe, Madeira hopes that it "involves romance, emotional honesty" and "developing a close relationship to her family".

For Tabitha, Swindell wants her future to hold a lot of comfort with her mother and being able to "convey different ideas to the people around her rather than keeping things bottled up."
