US police identify suspect in Christina Grimmie killing

US police have identified 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl as the suspected killer of singer Christina Grimmie. The 22-year-old YouTube and ‘The Voice’ star was shot while signing autographs after a concert at the Plaza Live Venue in Orlando, Florida. She later died in hospital. She posted this video ahead of the gig. ORLANDO!! Come out to the show tonight at the Plaza Live! Orlando Police Chief John Mina told the press the suspect was heavily armed: “What our detectives are doing right now is they’re going through the suspect’s cell phone and computer to see if they can find a motive for this crime. The suspect had two handguns on his person. He had two additional loaded magazines for those handguns and a large hunting knife.” Authorities have speculated that Loibl may have been a deranged fan. Chief Mina said the St Petersburg, Florida, local appeared to have made the two-hour drive to Orlando specifically to carry out the shooting. There is no indication Loibl and Grimmie knew each other prior to the attack and he is not believed to have a criminal record, officials say. The Plaza Live Venue posted a notice following the shooting offering their thoughts and prayers to Grimmie’s family and announcing the suspension of forthcoming events.
