UTA Names Ryan Hayden and Marc Paskin Co-Heads of News and Broadcasting

United Talent Agency is making changes to the leadership of its news and broadcasting department, the unit that negotiates on behalf of journalists and news personalities.

According to a memo sent to staff Tuesday by UTA vice-chairman Jay Sures and COO and co-head of UTA Sports Andrew Thau, the agency is elevating Ryan Hayden and Marc Paskin to be co-heads of its news and broadcasting department.

Peter Goldberg, who had led the department since 2017, will stay with the company as a partner and senior agent. Goldberg joined UTA in its acquisition of N.S. Bienstock, the agency that helped create the market for news and journalism talent under the leadership of the late Richard Leibner.

Paskin and Hayden will report to Sures in their new roles, with Hayden also continuing to oversee UTA Sports alongside Jerry Silbowitz, reporting in to Thau.

“We are excited for the next chapter for these groups and again grateful to Peter for his work helping build and grow UTA News into the market leader it is today,” Sures and Thau wrote in their memo.

I’m very pleased to share a couple of updates.

Ryan Hayden and Marc Paskin have been named co-heads of UTA’s News & Broadcasting Department.

Mark and Ryan lead a practice recognized as the leader in this field, which includes some of the most trusted and prominent journalists in the country, such as CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Jake Tapper, Kate Bolduan and Dana Bash, MSNBC’s Jen Psaki, NBC’s Chuck Todd, CBS Anchor Norah O’Donnell, journalists Kara Swisher and Taylor Lorenz, Fox’s Bret Baier, and Today Show Co-Host Jenna Bush Hager.

Ryan, a UTA Partner who is celebrating his 20th year with the company, has built a stellar reputation for representing some of the biggest names in news and sports media. Marc joined UTA in 2019, bringing with him a wealth of experience from previous senior roles at ABC News.

Peter Goldberg, who had been heading the department, continues as a valued UTA Partner and senior agent to some of the biggest names in the business. We are incredibly grateful to Peter for his leadership of the group since 2017, when he joined as part of the Beinstock acquisition.

Andrew Thau and I also want to announce that Ryan, alongside Jerry Silbowitz, will continue to head UTA’s Sports Media Department. As you saw on last week’s GSM, that group’s roster includes NFL Network’s Rich Eisen, Fox Sports’ Emmanuel Acho, Nick Wright, Rob Gronkowski and Charles Woodson, ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins , Andraya Carter and Robert Griffin III, Amazon and The Today Show’s Kaylee Hartung, among many others. They also have an expertise in media rights, content, and have lent advisory services to a multitude of companies.  Jerry has been with us since 2015, and previously ran his own management company.

As heads of News, Marc and Ryan will report to me. For Sports Media, Ryan and Jerry will report to Andrew, in his capacity as co-head of UTA Sports, as well as myself. We are excited for the next chapter for these groups and again grateful to Peter for his work helping build and grow UTA News into the market leader it is today.
