Yahoo News Watch Stephen Amell's new wrestling drama Heels online
Arrow star Stephen Amell has returned to our screens with the brand-new wrestling drama Heels, which is out now on Starz in the US and Starzplay via Amazon Prime Video Channels in the UK.
The show follows a small-town family-owned pro wrestling promotion in a close-knit Georgia community, where two brothers are rivals trying to live up to their father's legacy.
In the wrestling business a heel is a 'bad guy', and Amell plays this role in the show as Jack Spade. He's the older brother of Ace Spade played by Vikings' Alexander Ludwig, a young face, aka 'good guy' – they both wrestle on the independent circuit and sometimes the feuds can spill out of the ring.
Heels is the television return of Stephen Amell, who played Oliver Queen/The Green Arrow on The CW's Arrow that ran for eight seasons from 2012 to 2020.
Amell is no stranger to wrestling, who has wrestled one-off matches at WWE SummerSlam 2015, Ring of Honor in 2017 and at big independent show ALL IN during 2018.
Former WWE superstar CM Punk will also have a role on the show as notorious heel Ricky Rabies.
While CM Punk hasn't wrestled since 2014, he's heavily rumoured to be returning to the ring soon, potentially in AEW. Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, the wrestler/actor had this to say about his character in the show.
"I play a character that is, technically it's me in another life," Punk said. "A very popular independent wrestler who, if you want people to show up to your show, you book him on this show."
The show also stars Alison Luff, Kelli Berglund, Chris Bauer, Allen Maldonado, Mary McCormack, James Harrison and David James Elliot.
How to watch Heels in the UK
Heels premiered on August 15 and streams on Starzplay through Amazon Prime Video – season one consists of eight episodes which will release weekly.
In order to watch Starzplay you will have to be an Amazon Prime member which costs £7.99 a month or £79 a year.
Once you're a Prime subscriber you can then sign up to the Starzplay Prime Video Channel for an additional £4.99 a month, which will give you access to watch Heels and the many other shows the channel offers.
If you've never been a Prime subscriber in the past you can take advantage of a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime. Keep in mind you will still have to pay to sign up to Starzplay.
