If, like many of us, you are currently staring deep into the abyss of a musical playlist plateau; aimlessly hitting repeat on the same album for the hundredth time - then we have some good news for you.

For apparently no reason at all, some time-rich soul has dedicated a number of their waking hours into the creation of The Magic iPod, a quite frankly brilliant website that allows you to mix together two mid-2000s bangers of your choosing, creating a heady wall of retro sound.

It's like 2003 all over again.

The aim is simple: choose a radio-friendly rap hit like, say, 99 Problems by Jay-Z and layer it over the top of a pop-rock record from the same era. We went for A Thousand Miles, by Vanessa Carlton.

The results were... well, the results were terrible. But if you want a minor diversion from the weight of your own leaden existential angst, then you might find a few minutes of sweet, fleeting diversion here.

The internet does it again.
