Wes Nelson breaks down as he opens up about Megan Barton Hanson split on Dancing On Ice

Wes Nelson struggled to hold back the tears as he opened up on his split from ex-girlfriend Megan Barton Hanson.

The Love Island couple found love in the villa last summer but called time on their relationship earlier this year.

Speaking about the painful split on Sunday night’s Dancing On Ice, Nelson told how his parent's wedding inspired his latest routine.

Nelson said he wanted to dance to his mother and father's wedding song, Never Too Much by Luther Vandross, and admitted he wanted "to love like my parents do".

Welling up as he admitted he has “been in love”, Nelson said: “My mum and dad completely personify the word love. Of course I’ve experienced loved but I’d love to love like my parents do.”

Breaking down as he spoke about his romance with Barton Hanson, he added: “Me and Megs had a really really good bond, it makes me upset now to talk about it. It isn’t great and it makes me upset now to talk about it. Oh no, I’m getting upset now.”

Nelson struggled to keep it together as he wiped his tears away after reflecting on the split.

The reality star’s emotional revelation comes as Barton Hanson shared a cryptic post encouraging others to be “strong enough to let go” and “wait for what you deserve.”

Barton Hanson posted the motivational message after Nelson spoke about being "chill" about the fellow reality star moving on.

Speaking about life since the break-up, Nelson told the Sun he was "busy doing my own thing".

The couple parted ways last month after their relationship struggled during Nelson’s time on Dancing on Ice.

Barton Hanson previously accused the ice skating show bosses of sabotaging their relationship by pairing him with the “hottest” professional skater, Vanessa Bauer.

They announced their split on Instagram with a statement that parodied Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin’s infamous “conscious uncoupling” announcement.
