Wet Wet Wet singer Marti Pellow backs former band after being replaced by new frontman
Wet Wet Wet star Marti Pellow has given his former band his support after being replaced by new frontman.
Pellow, 56, left the band in 2017 to pursue a solo career, forcing the band — Graeme Clark, Neil Mitchell and Tommy Cunningham — to bring in a new lead singer in 2018, settling on Liberty X’s Kevin Simm.
He says he still considers his former bandmates as a 'band of brothers' telling the Mirror:
“We don't really talk to each other that much, I guess that's quite sad, but, you know, hey ho.”

“Life's short as it is. We weren't marching to the same drum.”
Reminiscing on the success of the Scottish band, he confessed that he will always cherish the work he did with them, despite the 'messy ending'.
Best known for their cover of The Troggs’ hit Love Is All Around which spent 15 weeks at the top of the chart in 1994, the quartet had previously sold 15 million records.
Wishing his successor the best, Pellow admitted that he thinks the new line-up will bring 'a different vibe… and a different dynamic', and that if people enjoy the new sound then 'fair play to them'.
Both are set to release new music soon: Pellow is releasing his own album Stargazer, while the band are working on their first album with new frontman Simm.
In light of his recent tour announcement as one of the first artists to announce dates following easing of lockdown restrictions, Pellow admits just how much he took touring for granted before the pandemic.
"Now you realise how much a big part of your DNA as an artist it is to be able to go and an entertain and feel that sense of connection, and I want to be part of that, with the millions of people who have followed me on this wee journey.”
