Whoopi Goldberg explains why she has no eyebrows

Whoopi Goldberg has shocked fans by pointing out that she has no eyebrows.

During an episode of The View, which she co-hosts, Goldberg was discussing the "no-brow" trend when she stunned her co-stars and audience.

Looking into the camera, the Sister Act star said: "I have to do this with a straight face.

"How do you feel about this no-brow look?" and proceeded to raise her hairless brow.

Goldberg's The View co-host Sara Haines reacted by saying: "Whoopi I have sat next to you for six years and never noticed that you have no eyebrows. And I look right into your eyes and I did not notice."

The actor and comedian quipped back: "I was married to a man who didn’t notice."

Goldberg proceeded to detail what happened to her eyebrows: "I had eyebrows as a little kid and you know how men get those bumps? I started to get them on my face so my mother removed them. And so I just keep doing it because I don’t know my face with eyebrows, unless I’m working."

Goldberg also revealed to those watching that she has to have her eyebrows painted on using makeup for acting roles.

The 66-year-old is one of only 17 people to have won an Oscar, Emmy, Tony and Grammy. Goldberg won the Oscar in 1990 for her performance in Ghost, a Grammy for Best Comedy Album in 1986, an Emmy for her work on The View and a Tony Award for her role in a 2002 production of Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Goldberg is also renowned for her performance in Steven Spielberg's The Color Purple which also saw her nominated for an Oscar though she lost out to Geraldine Page for The Trip to Bountiful.
