Woody Allen's next film starring Christoph Waltz to begin shooting in July

Woody Allen‘s next film will star Christoph Waltz and is due to begin shooting in July.

The announcement was made on Tuesday by the Spanish group Mediapro, which is co-producing the film.

Allen’s 51st film as director, which is yet untitled, will film in San Sebastian from 10 July to 23 August.

Spanish actor Elena Anaya, American actor Gina Gershon and France’s Louis Garrel are also part of the cast.

Per Mediapro, the movie “tells the story of a married American couple who go to the San Sebastian Film Festival”.

“They get caught up in the magic of the festival, the beauty and charm of Spain and the fantasy of movies,” the description continues.

“She has an affair with a brilliant French movie director, and he falls in love with a beautiful Spanish woman who lives there.

“It is a comedy-romance that resolves itself in a funny but romantic way.”

The news comes after Allen filed a $68m lawsuit against Amazon, alleging the online giant broke a four-movie deal dating back to 2017.

His film A Rainy Day in New York was never distributed after allegations of sexual abuse made by Allen’s daughter Dylan Farrow against the director received renewed attention.

Allen has denied the accusations.
