Yusuf Islam Performs 'Peace Train' at Christchurch Remembrance Service

A remembrance service was held in Christchurch, New Zealand, on March 29, to honour the victims of the Christchurch mosque shootings.

Prime minister Jacinda Ardern spoke at the event which also saw a number of musicians perform including British singer Yusuf Islam, formerly known as Cat Stevens. This video, filmed by a member of the crowd, Josiah Tualamai’i, shows the singer performing his song, Peace Train.

Yusuf Islam, famous for songs such as Wild World and Father and Son, was born in London to a Cypriot father and Swedish mother, but converted to Islam in the 1970s and has performed the song Peace Train throughout his career to promote tolerance and understanding, especially regarding the Islamic faith.
