Yves Tumor announces new album and releases second single

Yves Tumor has revealed details of their fifth studio album, to be released in March, and shared its second single.

The experimental rock star will follow up 2020’s Heaven to a Tortured Mind on March 17, when they release Praise to a Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds) via Warp Records. A fresh taste of it arrived today (January 30) in the shape of ‘Echolalia’, which comes with a surreal and gory video directed by Tumor’s longtime collaborator Jordan Hemingway. You can see it below. They had previously prefaced the record with lead single ‘God Is a Circle’ back in November.

Tumor will tour the world in support of Praise to a Lord…, with their new live show set to debut at Coachella in April. The schedule includes a pair of UK dates in November, which you can see below, along with the album’s track listing. The record will be Tumor’s first release since the EP The Asymptotical World in 2021, and was produced by Noah Goldstein, who was worked with the likes of Frank Ocean and Rosalía. Alan Moulder, the renowned producer best known for his work with Nine Inch Nails, has mixed the album; Tumor supported Trent Reznor and co in the UK last summer.

Praise to a Lord… features contributions from long-time Tumor collaborators Chris Greatti, Yves Rothman and Rhys Hastings. Tumor has not commented directly on the record, but a press release promises the manifestation of their “vision of diluting reality by giving meaning to the abstract and allowing for dissonance to be seen and heard as harmony.” The two singles to date suggest that a heady blend of rock, electronic and psychedelia are at the core of the album’s DNA.
