Mindy McCready laid to rest

Tragic country star Mindy Mccready has been laid to rest in her native Florida.

The Guys Do It All the Time singer was found dead at her home following an apparent suicide on 17 February, just one month after the sudden death of her producer boyfriend David Wilson, who is also believed to have taken his own life, and, on Tuesday, over 400 friends and family members said their fond farewells at the Crossroads Baptist Church in Fort Myers, where her wood casket, adorned with white roses, was put on display for mourners.

The singer's music was played throughout the service to accompany a photo montage of her life, and afterwards her stepfather Michael Inge stepped up to the podium to deliver an emotional speech.

He said, "Mindy adored her two children. She wanted them to know that. Through much agony and pain, she went to heaven. She is no longer sick. She is healed. Thank you for all who are here. Please pray for those boys. No matter what, she will always be my little girl, sitting in her car seat, singing into a hairbrush. The world was her stage."

Before the 37 year old's burial, Inge also played his guitar and sang a touching rendition of Bobby Helm's You Are My Special Angel, according to People.com.

A second memorial is set to take place early next month.

She leaves behind two sons, Zander, six, and Zayne, 10 months.
